En-route charging network evyve joins Zap-Pay

En-route electric vehicle (EV) charging network evyve is the tenth network to go live on Zap-Map’s payment solution, Zap-Pay.

The integration means that ten charge point operators across the UK are now Zap-Pay enabled, allowing users to pay quickly and easily for their EV charging on the partner networks across the UK.

A national network is being set up by evyve of rapid and ultra-rapid charging locations, powered by 100% renewable energy. It currently has more than 200 chargers covering areas from Aberdeen to Eastbourne, primarily at retail and leisure outlets, business parks and restaurants with an aim to have 10,000 charge points by 2030.

Zap-Pay offers a single-app payment solution that uses a credit or debit card to pay for charging, and was launched with a mission to include all the key charge point networks across the UK.

Alex Earl, Commercial Director at Zapmap, said: “As the tenth network to go live on Zap-Pay, I’m very pleased that evyve has now come online as a fully fledged payment partner. With usage levels of Zap-Pay continually increasing, we expect to see Zap-Pay utilisation jump still further as the summer progresses.

“The addition of another nationwide charging provider will certainly be of great value for electric car drivers, whether they’re undertaking longer journeys or simply topping up at their destination.”

Matt Lloyd, CPO Manager at Zapmap, said: “It’s really encouraging to see our cross-network payment solution gathering such momentum. I for one am thrilled to see evyve – which is committed to rolling out a safe, secure and convenient public network – going live as our tenth Zap-Pay partner.

“With charge points at convenient locations such as restaurants, business parks, and retail and leisure outlets, evyve is a valuable addition to the Zap-Pay partner network.”

James Moat, CEO at evyve, said: “We already consider Zapmap an important partner for charge point identification and route planning, but it is great to see progressive tools such as Zap-Pay being developed in-house to really tie the offering together and provide a great mobility service to the public.”

Fred Kamstra, Network Operation Manager at evyve, said: “At evyve we believe that interoperability, otherwise known as ‘Roaming’, is the key to mass adoption of electric vehicles and fast tracking the road to net-zero. Roaming makes payment simple by allowing the public to have the flexibility of using their preferred app or fuel card to pay at any of evyve’s chargers.

“By being one of the first networks to actively embrace roaming, we hope that we can give drivers the confidence to make the leap from ICE to electric.”
