Transport and Energy launches as UK accelerates into EV future

Alec Peachey, an experienced transport and energy journalist, has launched a vital new website and daily email newsletter for professionals in these sectors: Transport and Energy

Designed specifically to unite professionals across the sectors, it will provide business-critical information and services to accelerate the decarbonisation of transport and energy.

The website – https://transportandenergy.com – will feature the latest news stories, features and projects from the sectors, diving into the myriad of challenges facing them with a focus on key topics including:

With a Government ban on the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles coming in 2030 – and a £1.3 billion fund allocated to the rollout of electric vehicle charge points – there’s a real push towards the decarbonisation of transport.

Peachey, who is content director and a member of the extended board at the Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG), is an experienced content editor with more than 15 years’ experience in multimedia journalism. He spent four years as editor of Highways magazine where he also held the role of head of content.

He also edited Network magazine which provided a resource for engineers in the UK’s gas, power and heat networks at a time of transformation and disruption across the nation’s energy system.

Supporting Peachey on the brand is James Evison, who will be news editor. He is an editor with 15 years of experience across a range of industries – including four years working for Surveyor, leading the brand into its successful transition to Transport Network – and most recently as insight editor for the sector-leading sustainability title, edie.net.

Brand owner and editorial director Alec Peachey said: “With an ambition to make the UK net zero by 2050, transport and energy plans need to be bought together to ensure the UK’s transition to decarbonised transport is successful.

“Through working closely with local authorities in my role at LCRIG it has become clear that more focus and support is needed to boost local EV infrastructure. Local councils need to engage with the charge point sector and energy networks to discuss how this can be accelerated. This will be a key focus area for the brand.

“It is now just nine years until the ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars and 2021 is the year when the UK is hosting the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of Parties, CoP26. Now is the perfect time to be uniting both the transport and energy sectors and to provide business-critical information to help accelerate the decarbonisation of both industries.

“The daily newsletter will feature short, sharp and easy to read stories of interest to people from both sectors. Because both industries move so quickly and are working closer together than ever before we believe that a quick daily update will help people keep across everything that goes on. Our high-quality journalism will ensure that this happens.”

The newsletter will start to be sent to subscribers in the coming weeks. You can sign up here.
