Duracell E-Charge enters UK EV charging sector

A nationwide network of ultra-fast EV charging stations for the UK is due to be developed through the Duracell E-Charge brand.

The charge point operator will see more than £200 million in planned investment across the next decade.

A licence has been granted by Duracell to Elecktra Charge, who will run the run the Duracell E-Charge network. The charging hubs will be developed and funded by UK charging infrastructure developer The EV Network (EVN).

The company’s network will include ultra-fast charging up to 1,000 kW with the aim of consistently high uptime. It also said there would be “clear, transparent pricing” and multiple payment options, including in-app to contactless to plug-and-go.

The first six nationwide Duracell E-Charge sites will go live in 2025, with the firm saying there will be “rapid expansion throughout 2026 and beyond”.

Its network will focus on strategic locations including motorways, retail and hospitality venues, and city gateways. Duracell E-Charge sites will also feature intuitive user interfaces, clear navigation and 24/7 support, the company added.
