Technology provider Easee has struck a deal to rapidly install electric vehicle (EV) charge points for customers of online retailer Cazoo.

Glasgow-based Easee will create the infrastructure within a week at certain UK homes under the agreement.

People buying used EVs through Cazoo will be able to book their charge point installation using a digital process claimed to take less than 10 minutes.

Research published by LV= General Insurance this summer showed that almost a third of second-hand-car sales could involve electric vehicles by 2030. The sale of new petrol or diesel cars will be banned from the same year.

Easee UK director Csilla Heim said the firm was “making the transition to electric vehicles accessible for all”.

She added: “We’re partnering with Cazoo to simplify the journey for people buying a used EV, enabling them to have a charger installed at home quickly and easily.

“When people think of buying an EV and EV charger they tend to think of new cars only. But with many models having been on the market for some time, we’re going to experience an accelerated growth in the used EV car market.

“Our new partnership will increase access to chargers for those who are looking to the second-hand car market when purchasing their EV.”

The Easee One charger is currently available through the Cazoo website for a one-off payment of £949.
