SEE Services has appointed Optimo Energy as its Fleet Energy Operating System partner for London Ambulance Service’s electric vehicle charging programme.
Optimo’s Fleet Energy Operating System will connect charging infrastructure, vehicle intelligence and site energy management across a programme encompassing more than 700 charging connectors.
It will provide the intelligent software platform and operational support capabilities to manage the connected charging network, bringing together vehicle readiness, charging infrastructure and site energy management.
The challenge around charging an emergency response fleet focuses on the demands of the operation, as charging windows can change without warning, and available electrical capacity must be managed around operational priorities, it said.
Optimo’s hardware-agnostic Fleet Energy Operating System will connect charging infrastructure, vehicle telematics, battery state-of-charge information and real-time site energy management within a single operational platform.
By continuously monitoring charging performance and dynamically allocating available power according to vehicle requirements and site electrical constraints, the platform will help LAS manage charging demand, identify potential issues earlier and support vehicle readiness.
SEE Services will lead the delivery of LAS’s charging infrastructure programme, encompassing the design, supply, installation and commissioning of new charging facilities, alongside the integration and ongoing maintenance of existing equipment across the estate.
Daniel Homoki-Farkas, CEO and Co-founder of Optimo Energy, said:
“An ambulance may return from one emergency and be needed for another before it has finished charging. That is the reality our technology needs to support.
“For us, protecting fleet operations always comes first. Energy management needs to serve the vehicles and the people who depend on them, not the other way around.
“We are proud to be working with SEE Services to support London Ambulance Service on a programme that demonstrates why intelligent charging is becoming critical infrastructure. This is about much more than managing electricity costs. It is about helping ensure emergency response vehicles have the energy they need to carry out their duties.”
Lance Curtis, EV Manager at SEE Services Limited, said:
“Working with London Ambulance Service means understanding what is at stake. These are vehicles that people depend on in an emergency, and we take our responsibility to deliver and maintain their charging infrastructure seriously.”
“Our role goes well beyond installing chargers. We’re working closely with LAS to understand its fleet operations and analyse vehicle telematics, ensuring the charging infrastructure is designed and supported around the demands of an emergency response fleet.
“By combining that operational insight with our engineering expertise and Optimo’s intelligent charging platform, we can deliver a coordinated solution that supports LAS across its estate.”
Jordan Marsh, Director at SEE Services Limited, added:
“We are incredibly proud to have been selected by London Ambulance Service for a programme of this scale and importance. It reflects our ability to deliver complex electrical infrastructure across multiple locations while providing the long-term maintenance and operational support these facilities require.
“Our partnership with Optimo brings together the physical infrastructure and the intelligent software needed to manage it. It is an approach we believe will become increasingly important as organisations electrify larger, more operationally demanding fleets.”
