EV charging and energy management firm Wallbox and energy storage company Pramac are collaborating on fast charging deployment across Europe through integrated battery storage technology.
By pairing ultra-fast chargers with battery storage, Wallbox and Pramac aim to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of EV charging infrastructure.
The approach can facilitate the deployment of high-power charging solutions in a wider range of locations, potentially reducing the need for significant grid enhancements, the companies said.
With a single point of contact for hardware, software, and services, it aims to streamline operations and reduce overall operation complexity. By storing energy during low-demand periods and delivering it when needed, the system is designated to optimise power usage, expand charging availability, and accelerate installation.
The integrated solution combines Wallbox’s Supernova ultra-fast chargers with Pramac’s Battery Energy Storage Systems. At the heart of the solution is Pramac’s advanced Energy Management System (EMS), as an integral part of Pramac Smart Energy Controller with advanced cybersecurity measures, which intelligently controls energy flow, optimizing storage, distribution, and real-time power balancing.
It aims to reduce strain on the electrical grid and also minimise the costly demand charges by allowing charging sites to draw from stored energy during peak hours.
Additionally, incorporating renewable energy sources like solar power strengthens energy resilience and efficiency, accelerating the shift toward a smarter sustainable charging ecosystem.
Enric Asunción, CEO and co-founder of Wallbox, said:
“As EV adoption continues to grow, grid constraints remain a major challenge in deploying high-power charging infrastructure at scale.
“By combining our ultra-fast charging technology with Pramac’s energy storage solutions, we are supporting the increase of locations across Europe offering rapid and reliable EV charging without requiring complex grid upgrades.”
Igor Barakhtyanskiy, Business Group Director for Commercial & Industrial at Pramac, said:
“Our energy storage technology is a key enabler for fast-charging infrastructure, providing a scalable and cost-effective way to deploy chargers without overloading the grid.
“With Wallbox, we are delivering a future-ready solution that accelerates the widespread adoption of EV charging.”
