Total acquires Charging Solutions
Total has acquired electric vehicle charging firm Charging Solutions in Germany.
The move means the firm now has a network of 2,000 charge points installed at private business locations – including some accessible to the public.
The purchase from Viessmann group was undertaken to reinforce Total’s charging network, and use its technical and commercial businesses in the fields of installation, operation and management.
Based in Munich, the new entity of Total Deutschland will pursue its development by offering solutions for electric charging, including consulting, installation and invoicing of charging services.
Fleet managers will also benefit from adapted solutions for their employees’ home charging of companies’ cars. The move, effectively immediately, will not impact the company’s current customer base.
Speaking about the purchase, Alexis Vovk, president for marketing and services at Total, said the ambition of the company was to operate some 150,000 charge points across Europe by 2025.
He said: “Electric charging is modifying the traditional model of energy supply for vehicles, from the distribution at service-stations to a multi-channel distribution: at work, at home, in public places, in commercial areas or at service-stations.
“We expect a strong growth on the professional and B2B segment and we will be ready to cater to their needs with dedicated charging solutions.”
