At Tarmac we are proud to lead the development of zero emission delivery solutions for vital construction materials. From our introduction of the UK’s first battery electric concrete mixer in 2022 to the recent announcement of Tarmac’s involvement in eFreight2030 consortium, the UK Government’s Zero Emission HGV and Infrastructure Demonstrator Programme to develop the technical solutions and knowledge for zero emission delivery at scale.
Battery electric construction materials delivery in urban areas improves not just air quality but also reduces noise pollution which has been shown to be a major cause of stress related health issues. Tarmac’s approach is to learn from first-of-a-kind demonstrators, improve the technical solutions where we can, and identify the levers necessary for effective scaling. Working with Renault Trucks we have recently introduced our eMixer Discovery Programme which allows small hauliers to try-before-they-buy, learning the lessons necessary to ensure their adoption is effective and supported from the drivers up.
