Australian company Recharge Industries has completed its acquisition of battery firm Britishvolt, but the site in Blyth could be used to manufacture grid-scale energy storage instead of electric vehicle (EV) batteries.

SMMT figures show EV output rising

The latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that combined battery electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid electric vehicle volumes were up 49.9% to 28,329 units in January 2023.
