Karl Anders appointed Managing Director of Mer UK

Karl Anders has been appointed as the Managing Director of Mer UK and will be responsible for scaling up the company’s EV charging operations in the UK.

Anders will take on responsibility for scaling up both of Mer’s EV charging entities in the UK, Mer Charging UK based in London (public charging) and Mer Fleet Services based in Consett. He brings with him vast value chain and profit and loss experience within the EV industry.

Kristoffer Thoner, CEO of Mer, commented: “With Karl onboard, Mer will continue to lead and build first class, sustainable EV charging solutions for the UK market. The timing of his onboarding fits perfectly with our strong sustainability agenda and growth ambitions in the years to come.”

Karl first entered to the electric vehicle (EV) industry very early when he joined the Energy Saving Trust back in 2007. His role was to consult on sustainable and low emission transport to industry on behalf of government bodies OZEV and DfT, which increasingly became focussed on electric vehicles. Karl has held executive roles within Nissan GB, and was Managing Director on the board of innogy eMobility UK.

Talking about his appointment, Anders added: “I have followed Mer’s hugely impressive track record and growth for quite some time. It’s mission to make sustainable electric mobility easy and accessible for everyone resonates very well with who I am, and what I believe in.

“I have known many members of the Mer team for some time, so understand the real strength of both businesses is the people. It is an honour to be able to join the team and have the opportunity to support them to reach their goals over the next few years. The potential of the combined Mer businesses in the UK is phenomenal. This really is the right place at the right time, so I am very excited to join Mer’s journey into the future.”
