Motorway services operator Extra MSA has announced it has achieved a 4-star rating in the 2026 Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) Infrastructure Assessment.

The company scored 98.1% and ranked first within its category of Transport: Other Transport in Private (non-listed) organisations.

GRESB is a leading global sustainability benchmark that measures environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance across infrastructure and real estate organisations.

Since taking part in its first assessment in 2024, the company have continued to strengthen its sustainability approach through initiatives such as launching its ESG strategy, expanding EV charging facilities through partnerships with GRIDSERVE and IONITY, and becoming one of the first motorway service operators to have carbon reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Net-Zero Standard.

It has also invested in renewable energy projects by partnering with Spirit Energy for the installation of solar panels at its Cobham and Beaconsfield sites, while working with Reconomy Connect to improve recycling rates across its estate.

Michael Grantham, ESG Manager at Extra MSA, said:

“We’re really proud of achieving a 4-star GRESB rating and being recognised as Europe’s No. 1 Transport Infrastructure Operator. This is a testament to the progress we’ve made in embedding sustainability throughout the business since our first assessment in 2024. We’re committed to continue going the Extra mile for our customers and leading the way in creating a more sustainable transport sector.”
