UK EV charging network for commercial vehicles Paua has partnered with DAF Truck dealers Motus and Ford & Slater to enable shared electric truck charging at depot sites.

The sites will be made accessible to commercial fleets via Paua Share, helping expand the available charging network for electric rigid and articulated trucks across the UK. Across the two partnerships, 16 new truck charging locations will be added into the Paua truck and shared depot ecosystem.

The two dealer groups have to-date also supplied 20% of the electric trucks in the UK’s ZEHID programme as DAF electric trucks. Depots though will also allow electric trucks from any manufacturer, not just DAF vehicles, supporting the wider transition to zero-emission freight.

Shared depots help extend network coverage, improve charger utilisation and support more efficient route planning for commercial vehicles, the firm said.

The integrations have been delivered through close collaboration across multiple partners. Motus has worked with Envevo to install the chargers, while Ford & Slater has worked with EO to install the chargers. Paua has then integrated both partners into its platform, enabling fleets to access depot infrastructure using Paua’s EV charging payment and depot sharing capability.

Charging access remains one of the key challenges for fleets electrifying heavy vehicles. While public charging for cars and vans has grown rapidly, infrastructure specifically designed for large commercial vehicles is still emerging. Truck charging requires more power, more space and different site layouts than passenger EV charging, making depot-based infrastructure especially important.

John Jesson EV and Connected Services Manager, said:

“We are delighted to partner with Paua to make our charging infrastructure accessible to a wider group of fleet operators. As more businesses transition to electric trucks, enabling shared access to depot charging will help fleets operate with greater confidence and flexibility.”

Josh Spencer, EV Sales Manager, said:

“We are pleased to be working with Paua to open up depot charging access for fleets. As a leading DAF Trucks dealer, we are proud to be supporting the growth of electric truck adoption in the UK, including through our contribution to the ZEHID programme.”

Niall Riddell, CEO and Co-Founder of Paua, said:

“Motus and Ford & Slater joining Paua Share is a strong example of the industry working together to accelerate electric truck adoption. Depot charging is a critical part of the ecosystem.

“By opening trusted depot infrastructure to other fleets, we can rapidly extend the usable charging network for electric trucks across the UK.”
