Mercedes-Benz Trucks forms charging infrastructure partnership with EVBox Group
Mercedes-Benz Trucks has entered into a strategic charging infrastructure partnership with EVBox Group.
ENGIE and EVBox Group are set to offer their comprehensive knowledge on electricity and EV charging solutions for the central depot charging of truck fleets to Mercedes-Benz Trucks customers.
The products and services of EVBox Group and ENGIE Group were extensively tested by Mercedes-Benz Trucks for interoperability; the charging stations were also tested with all current and future electrically powered commercial vehicles from Mercedes-Benz Trucks.
The Mercedes-Benz eActros electric truck will launch as a series-production vehicle in 2021. In addition, numerous compatibility tests were successfully conducted with the Mercedes-Benz Trucks charging management system.
The eConsulting team from Mercedes-Benz Trucks had previously drawn up user profiles of electric truck customers on the basis of existing routes. EVBox Group and ENGIE then analysed customer deposits and the development of the appropriate infrastructure and energy supply; including intelligent charging solutions (hardware).
Based on this, both partners will help support the maintenance of the charging stations, as well as offering consulting services and technical DC training.
Andreas von Wallfeld, Head of Marketing, Sales and Services, Mercedes-Benz Trucks, said: “Considering the complexity of the associated processes when it comes to electric mobility, it is crucial to set the right course for the optimal use and integration of fully electric truck fleets.
“We want to handle any concerns our customers may have at this point and also assure them that our full-service offering will cover all future automotive needs.”
Kristof Vereenooghe, CEO of EVBox Group, said: “With over 10 years of experience in offering integrated charging solutions for electric vehicles, we know the importance of clear guidelines, reliable products, and excellent service at every stage of the customer journey.
“Fleet electrification will play a major role in meeting CO2 goals, especially as transport accounts for almost a quarter of Europe’s greenhouse gas emissions.”
