Fleet EV payment specialist Rightcharge has saved AA drivers up to £1,000 through accurate home charging reimbursements.
The news follows most fleet drivers finding reimbursement for domestic charging problematic, with tracking kilowatt-hours and chasing energy bills.
But Rightcharge automated the whole process, allowing drivers simply connect their home charger, energy tariff and vehicle to the platform.
The software calculates the exact cost of every home charging session and credits the reimbursement straight to the driver’s energy account so that they’re never out of pocket.
Fleet manager gets one bill at the end of the month, with the firm highlighting how good hardware assists in ensuring quality metrics through a stable connection.
Public charging was costing the AA around 74.1p/kWh, but now home charging averages 22.6p/kWh. With payments automated, 82% of the fleet’s charging now happens at home, saving £12.90 on every full charge – or £1,000 a year.
The issue of fleet management and the transition to electric vehicles was explored in a previous Transport + Energy webinar with The AA alongside Rightcharge and Zest.
Duncan Webb, fleet director at the AA, said:
“The customer service is outstanding and their team is exceptionally responsive. Rightcharge’s platform is helping us streamline our fleet management and will be crucial for reducing operational costs as we expand our EV fleet.
“We’re also working together to establish a future market design on how to reimburse our colleagues as technology advances and vehicle-to-grid becomes more common.”
Charlie Cook, CEO of Rightcharge, said:
“The AA is showing how electrification can be done. They’ve turned a complex admin problem into a simple savings engine. It’s great to work with a partner that is already planning for tomorrow’s opportunities as the industry and technology
evolve at pace.”
