App for electric vehicles (EV) Zapmap has launched a charging card to enable drivers to pay for charging “with confidence, wherever they go”.

Working with the Zapmap app, the card allows drivers to start a charge with a tap at compatible charge points. With more than 40,000 charge points across over 30 networks already accessible for digital payments in the app, the new card offers “even more flexibility and convenience for drivers on the road”, it claimed.

The card works by adding debit card details into the Zapmap app and ordering a card, which can then be used at supported chargers. Sessions and receipts then automatically appear in the app.

Flexible payment options are available with the ability to find and pay for charging in one place, it said.

The charging card is available now to Zapmap Premium Annual subscribers for a small fee, with rollout to all Zapmap users later this summer.

The launch follows a year of significant growth in Zapmap’s payment network, more than doubling the number of charge points where drivers can pay through the app.

Melanie Shufflebotham, COO and Co-founder of Zapmap, said:

“We’re here to help drivers charge with confidence – and the new charging card makes that even easier.

“Whether you’re using your phone or tapping your card, paying with Zapmap fits around your journey.”
