On-street electric vehicle (EV) charging specialist Connected Kerb’s network has gone live on Zap-Pay.

The app-based debit and credit card payment method for EV charging will see Connected Kerb’s on-street and car park chargers become fully-operational on Zap-Pay.

The Connected Kerb network of 2,000 chargers is the ninth to go-live on a payment solution, joining Osprey, ESB Energy, char.gy, GeniePoint, Mer, MFG EV Power, Fastned and Alfa Power.

Last year, Connected Kerb announced plans to install 190,000 public on-street EV chargers – worth up to £1.9bn – by 2030. A total of 7,000 charging devices are now part of Zap-Pay with the firm stating more integrations were to “follow over the coming weeks and months”.

Alex Earl, Commercial Director at Zap-Map, said: “I’m delighted to see such an important network as Connected Kerb going live on Zap-Pay, not least because reliable, accessible EV charging solutions like these will help to accelerate the uptake of electric vehicles and reduce our carbon footprint.

“As a nationwide charging provider with charge points at convenient locations such as residential streets and car parks, Connected Kerb is a valuable addition to the Zap-Pay partner network.

“Thanks to our users, we know that EV drivers want simple solutions to pay for charging. Having Connected Kerb live on Zap-Pay is therefore great news for Zapmap users – especially those without access to off-street parking – who will benefit from a convenient and easy-to-use service.”

Chris Pateman-Jones, CEO at Connected Kerb, said: “Zap-Pay has made an immeasurable contribution to our users’ charging payment experience, which must be as seamless as possible if we are to win the hearts and minds of existing, experimental and new EV users. Charging an EV should be a routine activity that is as mundane as taking public transport and this collaboration with Zap-Pay will bring that a step closer.”
