Forum Focus: Jonathan Jenkins, Motability Operations

Transport + Energy interviewed a number of industry figures at its recent Transport + Energy Forum event.

This week, we hear from Jonathan Jenkins, Head of Innovation, Motability Operations.

He commented: “We are moving into an emerging industry so we need to work together across the piste to ensure that we can have as effective take up of electric vehicles as possible. Working for Motability Operations we see working with partners who are experts in their industry will allow us to accelerate our transition to electric vehicles. Collaboration is absolutely critical to allow for that adoption.”

Motability Operations Ltd is the company behind the Motability Car, Powered Wheelchair and Scooter Schemes that support disabled people and their families to be mobile. As the UK’s largest car leasing company, they help over 600,000 people to get on the road.

The Motability Scheme has been providing affordable, convenient, worry-free motoring for over 40 years. Motability Operations aim to meet customers’ individual disability needs by providing a wide range of affordable vehicles on the Motability Scheme, under contract to Motability the national charity (which is responsible for oversight of the Scheme).

With the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) fast approaching, Motability Operations are committed to supporting its customers when they switch to electric.

The inaugural Transport + Energy Forum brought together a range of different stakeholders including local authorities, central government, the supply chain, vehicle manufacturers, energy networks and trade associations – to discuss the actions that need to be taken to reach net zero.

The event took place at the Birmingham Conference & Events Centre on 17th November 2022 and featured an overarching theme of ‘Taking action to decarbonise now’.

This year’s event will take place at the same venue on Thursday 16th November 2023. Find out more and register here.
