One of the National Trust’s most visited horticultural landmarks, Sissinghurst Castle Garden, has officially opened its new electric vehicle (EV) charging bays.

The Kent-based site now has eight new AC charging bays, which were delivered in partnership with RAW Charging. It is part of a larger rollout of charging infrastructure across the National Trust’s portfolio with more than 450 bays installed across 55 locations.

Further National Trust sites that are preparing to go live include Hidcote in Gloucestershire, which is scheduled to open with eight AC charging bays, and Croft Castle and Parkland in Herefordshire will introduce six AC charging bays.

The charging points at Sissinghurst are operated by RAW Charging and designed for maximum ease of use, featuring wider spacing to ensure interfaces are easily accessible. Visitors can start a session via the ChargePoint App or by using a simple contactless payment method.

This initiative is part of a nationwide programme aimed at energising over 300 additional bays at heritage locations in the coming months.

Jason Simpson, CEO of RAW Charging, said:

“Sissinghurst Castle Garden is a perfect example of the kind of amazing destinations we aim to connect with best-in-class EV infrastructure.

“This new installation delivers the reliability and convenience EV drivers expect – all in support of the National Trust’s sustainability goals.”
