Public charging firm Zest is working with Lewisham Council to deliver a major expansion of public EV charging across the borough.

The project will see the installation of at least 200 charging points across Lewisham, specifically designed for households who rely on on-street parking.

Under the agreement, Zest will invest an initial £1.5 million to deliver, operate and maintain the charging network over the next 15 years, at no cost to the council or the taxpayer.

In addition, the council has secured £100,000 through the Government’s On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme (ORCS).

The first charger, on Childers Street, went live in December 2025, and there are now fourteen charging spaces live across the borough, the firm said.

Robin Heap, CEO of Zest, said:

“Lewisham is demonstrating real ambition in its plans for a low-carbon transport system. By prioritising reliable on-street charging, the Council is making it easier for households without private parking to participate in the transition to electric vehicles.

“Our role is to support that long-term vision with infrastructure that residents can rely on today and for years to come.”
