Electric vehicle (EV) charging business Evolt Charging – part of SWARCO Smart Charging – has supported Tewkesbury Borough Council in the launch of a new EV charging hub.
Located in the town centre, the new hub features eight 7kW Evolt AC chargers that are designed to serve two bays simultaneously.
The new chargers have been installed with accessibility in mind, featuring lowered charging sockets and full compliance with the latest PAS 1899 standard.
The chargers are supported by Evolt’s 24/7 customer service team, and maintenance software, to ensure real-time monitoring, remote diagnostics and rapid response support.
The new Spring Gardens charging hub was officially opened by the council last month, with an event hosted in partnership with Evolt that included live demonstrations and a Q&A session for residents and visitors about the new charging technology.
Cllr Cate Cody, Lead Member for Climate and Ecology, said:
“The EV charge points will attract new customers to the town, as well as enticing tourists to stop off and visit our historic town and the charm of the nearby riverside. It sends the clear message that anyone can visit without the anxiety of whether they can recharge.
“Supporting residents and businesses to move away from petrol and diesel vehicles, which are the leading contributor of greenhouse gases in the Borough, is a key element of the Council’s aim to reduce these harmful emissions in the Borough and improved air quality.”
Justin Meyer, Managing Director of SWARCO Smart Charging, said:
“We’re pleased to support Tewkesbury Borough Council with our highly reliable charging solutions and dedicated service and maintenance support.
“This new hub, in the heart of Tewkesbury town centre, provides local residents and visitors with much needed access to convenient and reliable EV charging.”
