IONITY opens new charging station in Ireland
IONITY and Charlestown Shopping Centre has opened one of Ireland’s largest electric vehicle (EV) High-Power charging (HPC) stations.
The firm is delivering 12 350kWh EV chargers to the site, conveniently located only a two-minute drive from Junction 5 of the M50 – one of the busiest motorways in Ireland.
Drivers can benefit from a 10% to 80% charge in less than twenty minutes, or explore the blend of retail brands, restaurants, and entertainment providers across the 188,000ft site, with 24/7 access to the charging bays.
With IONITY, electric travel is aiming to be more accessible, reliable and affordable, delivering a charging site every 60-80 miles across Europe’s highway network. Also, charging with IONITY delivers 100% green energy from source to socket, which makes EV travel emission-free and carbon neutral.
These elemetns are in keeping with Dublin’s goals for sustainability, building on one of the world’s first carbon-neutral convention centres – the Convention Centre Dublin – and one of Europe’s most sustainable hotels, the Iveagh Garden Hotel.
Dan O’Connor, Centre Manager at Charlestown Shopping Centre, said:
“Charlestown Shopping Centre is delighted to work with IONITY and to lead the way in supporting Ireland’s transition to a more sustainable future.
“With the installation of these 12 IONITY Fast Chargers, we are proud to offer the largest EV charging hub in Ireland. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to promoting Sustainability, reducing our carbon footprint, and enhancing the shopping experience for our customers.”
Andreas Atkins, Country Manager for UK&I at IONITY, said:
“From its sustainability targets to the rollout of EV infrastructure across Ireland, the country is clearly taking its obligations to both people and planet seriously. With 115,000 drivers on the M50 every day, providing an EV charging station is hugely important if we’re going make EVs the norm across Europe.
“The installation of such an impressive charging site at a place like Charlestown Shopping Centre should be a sign to others that EV charging is affordable, attainable, and beneficial – not just to road users, but to local businesses and residents in the surrounding area.”
