AWEnergy announces cheap ultra-rapid charging
AWEnergy is supporting renewably-powered electric vehicles with 39p/kWh ultra-rapid charging at its Checkley Wood site on the A5.
Renewable energy and land development business, AWGroup, has reduced its AWEnergy Electric Vehicle charging rate to 39p/kWh, less than half the UK’s average price for PAYG ultra-rapid charging.
Electric cars, vans and lorries will be able to take advantage of this price at AWEnergy’s flagship charging station, Checkley Wood, which is located on the A5 outside of Leighton Buzzard.
With 14 ultra-rapid charge points, extra-wide bays and an onsite coffee shop, drivers can relax, recharge and even watch the Group’s onsite wind turbine generates enough green electricity to power the equivalent of 2,500 average Bedfordshire homes every year.
Electric van expert and owner of EV Essentials Paul Kirby said:
“Having recently taken to LinkedIn to bemoan the fact of the high price of charging, which has a disproportionate effect on vans and trucks, this news is incredibly welcome.
“I feel that it really sends out a disruptive message around the art of the possible, with the right kind of thinking. All the while linked intrinsically to renewable energy – It feels like a perfect answer. I look forward to seeing more of the same!’
John Fairlie, Managing Director, AWRenewables said:
“We are passionate about the communities we serve, and we want to demonstrate that when pioneering technology and big ideas come together, real differences can be made.”
