Be.EV partners with Paua for increased EV network coverage

Electric vehicle charge point operator Be.EV has signed a new strategic partnership with Paua which will put 700 more charge points within reach of commercial drivers.

It means businesses operating electric vehicles in the Greater Manchester area now have vastly improved charging coverage.

The addition of Be.EV ensures Paua customers have access to 1,800 EV connectors in the Greater Manchester area. Of these more than 1,000 are high-powered DC chargers (50kW or faster). This provides drivers with at least two charge point connections every square mile.

Be.EV is on a mission to increase charge point coverage in the North of England and beyond. Electric vehicle owners on this network will also benefit from Be.EV’s national expansion, which will see a total of 1,100 charging points installed by the end of 2025.

Backed by Octopus Energy Generation the company has 700 live charge points with an additional 300+ charge points being built for go-live across the UK by the end of 2024.

All EV charging on the Be.EV network is 100% backed by renewable energy from Octopus Energy.

Paua now provides drivers with access to more than 54,000 charge points at more than 17,000 locations managed by more than 35+ charging providers across the UK. Increasing network coverage across all regions of the UK reduces drivers’ fear of moving to electric making it easier for businesses to reduce their transport emissions.

Paua builds the technology that makes it simple to bring all the data across many networks into one centralised location and with one monthly invoice.

Drivers simply search for a charger (never more than 15 miles away) then tap the Paua card to get charged and back on the road. Managers have access to all their charging data in one place and a single bill to simplify their experience.

Paua now boasts a partner connector at least every 15 miles. Notably rural areas remain less well covered with the lowest densities of chargers in Caithness, Northumberland National Park and the North Yorkshire Moors.

Be.EV is keen to hear from landowners such as farmers who wish to maximise revenue by installing EV charge hubs on land near busy roads.

Asif Ghafoor, CEO of Be.EV said:

“We are very pleased to be working with Paua – a company which shares our mission to bring EV charging to as many people as possible.

“The transition of fleet vehicles to electric has the power to bring environmental and sustainability benefits to us all and Paua is an important part of that movement.

“At Be.EV we are constantly looking for new sites to install our community-focused charging sites and will bring them to Paua customers as they go live.”

Niall Riddell, Chief Executive and Co-founder of Paua said:

“Be.EV is demonstrating true leadership in ensuring that electric vehicle drivers are catered for across the country. Starting in the North and with the backing of Octopus, extending across the UK ensures drivers get access to high-quality, well-priced, reliable and green electricity. We are delighted to be working with Be.EV.”
