Arnold Clark opens first-ever all-electric sales site

Car retailer Arnold Clark has opened its first-ever all-electric sales site.

The company’s brand-new ‘Electric Car Centre’ is now open in Sydenham in London and will be a major benefit to customers who are looking to make the switch to electric.

The centre, open seven days a week, will have over 30 electric vehicles (EV) from a host of top manufacturers on-site available to test-drive and buy.

The branch is on the outskirts of London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), making it the perfect location for customers that may need to change their car to meet the requirements.

With the number of ULEZs in the UK increasing and the 2030 UK Government deadline for the end of new petrol and diesel car sales looming, more people are making the switch to electric.

The overall aim of LEZs is to improve air quality within congested areas, such as city centres.

The Electric Car Centre in Sydenham will also serve as Click and Collect sites, meaning customers can choose from over 1,000 EVs online and find their perfect next car.

The new concept store combines a typical car showroom with the firm’s Innovation Centres in Glasgow and Stafford, by allowing customers to learn about EVs.

On-site, there will be educational spaces dedicated to alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) and exciting new car technologies.

Martin Coyle, Franchise Manager at Arnold Clark, said: ”We are delighted to open our first retail site in London, making it even easier for customers to access our network. As this new branch is located just outside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, we’re offering wide range of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles to help people transition towards a lower emission future.

”As the first branch of its kind within the Arnold Clark Group, we’re looking forward to sharing our knowledge with our customers so they can understand the full potential of electric vehicles.”

Another Electric Car Centre is set to open in Altrincham in the coming weeks.

Last month, Arnold Clark announced plans to install over 500 electric vehicle chargers across the UK in an investment worth £23 million.
