GRIDSERVE appoints new Chairman

GRIDSERVE has announced the appointment of Roy Williamson as the new Chairman of the Board.

With an extensive background in the industry, Williamson (pictured left) has a proven track record as an industry leader in electric mobility. He also chairs Recharge, the leading charge point operator in the Nordics, and holds a number of advisory roles at companies accelerating the electric vehicle transition. Prior to this, Williamson held senior positions in commercial, marketing and leadership roles at big businesses, including Unilever and BP, where he led the move into electrification globally.

Commenting on his appointment, he said: “I am thrilled to join GRIDSERVE as its new Chairman. Already leading the way for EV charging in the UK, the company has considerable growth potential, and I look forward to working with the talented team to build on its success so far and support driving the business forward.”

Roy Williamsons’ appointment comes at an exciting time for GRIDSERVE. Construction continues at pace for London Gatwick Electric Forecourt, opening later this year, with several exciting announcements coming for new locations soon. The company also has more than 10 Electric Super Hubs in construction right now, and many more being lined up for delivery this year, as the teams push to support government targets for charging provision.

GRIDSERVE Electric Highway expansion advances following the secured £200m investment from Infracapital, the infrastructure equity investment arm of M&G Plc. At the same time, existing investors, TPG Rise – TPG’s global impact investing platform, also increased their shareholding in the company, alongside Mitsubishi HC Capital UK Plc.

Toddington Harper (pictured right), CEO of GRIDSERVE, said: “We are delighted to welcome Roy to GRIDSERVE. His wealth and breadth of experience and strategic vision make him the ideal person to support GRIDSERVE in delivering our Mission, Vision, and Ambition. He shares our purpose to deliver sustainable energy on the scale needed to move the needle on climate change, and we look forward to achieving this with him as part of our growing team.”

The new appointment sees GRIDSERVE’s previous chairman, Jerry Stokes, who has been with the company since the early days, and has been a key part of the company’s success to date, take on the role of Chief of Staff. In his new role, Stokes will continue to support the business and its growth.
