Mitie has signed a £4.3 million contract with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to roll out electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure at more than 120 job centres across Britain.

The deal covers the design, installation and maintenance of the EO EV charging points, building on Mitie’s existing relationship with DWP, delivering facilities management services including engineering, maintenance, cleaning services and asset safety checks.

As part of this ongoing five-year relationship, Mitie has also worked closely with DWP’s sustainability team on areas such as waste, biodiversity, decarbonisation and solar power. As part of this new contract, sustainability will continue to take a central role in the delivery of Mitie’s services, to support DWP in reaching its net zero targets and achieving a fully electric fleet by 2030.

The contract is Mitie’s second large-scale EV infrastructure roll out for the public-sector, following a £4.5 million contract to install and maintain charge points for the Environment Agency.

Pradyumna Pandit, Managing Director, Sustainability and Energy Services, Mitie said: “Getting workplace car parks ready and welcoming with charging facilities is critical for the transition to an electric future. We are proud to partner with DWP as they lead the way in demonstrating their commitment to net zero with EV ready sites.”
