Rightcharge partners with Leasing.com to help power EV growth

EV charge point and energy tariff comparison service Rightcharge, has partnered with Leasing.com, the UK’s biggest car leasing comparison site, to help UK drivers make the transition away from petrol and diesel and towards electric vehicles.

The agreement will see Rightcharge become Leasing.com’s recommended partner to help its customers find the best possible deals on home chargers that are compatible with their newly leased electric vehicles.

Following the UK government’s announcement that it will ban the sale of new petrol and diesel engine vehicles from 2030, the leasing of EVs has continued to increase in popularity. According to the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) five million vehicles on Britain’s roads today are leased with 1.9 million of those being individual, or personal, contracts.

Leasing rather than buying, is seen by many as a viable option for those looking to move away from ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles because it enables motorists to test out EV technology without long-term ownership commitments.

Set up by ex-CERN engineer and entrepreneur Charlie Cook, the Rightcharge platform will offer Leasing.com’s customers a tailored comparison of home charge points, combined with recommended installers for domestic chargers.

Later this year, the partnership will also mean that Leasing.com’s customers could reduce their energy bills by over £150 a year by switching to an EV-friendly energy tariff and scheduling for the off-peak hours with a smart charge point.

Charlie Cook, founder of Rightcharge, said: “This is another hugely significant partnership for us and to say that we’re delighted is an understatement. Leasing.com are our biggest leasing partner to date and are a market-leader given their simple customer journey and wide choice of leasing offers. The partnership means we can better assist even more EV drivers who are choosing to lease their vehicles, which is another step towards helping the UK reduce its carbon footprint.”

Paul Harrison, head of strategic partnerships at Leasing.comsaid: “Leasing is increasingly becoming the gateway product in helping consumers to afford and access new electric cars. As many UK motorists transition to electric vehicles for the first time, one of their main concerns is ensuring that they can charge the EV easily and inexpensively. Our exciting new partnership with Rightcharge helps them solve both of these problems after finding their next electric car through our website.”

The announcement is the latest from Rightcharge which sees it continue to support EV drivers throughout the country after it partnered with Lookers, one of the UK’s largest car retailers, last month
