Vanarama has partnered with national EV charging installation company Elmtronics to supply and install EV workplace and fleet chargers at their head office and at their fleet services centre.

The new infrastructure will provide the vehicle leasing company with a reliable charging infrastructure to keep vehicles for staff and visitors charged, as well as ensuring that vehicles supplied to customers are fully charged ahead of delivery.

The company has seen a surge in interest in electric vehicle demand since introducing an extensive range of EVs to their offering in early 2020. Figures show that electric vehicle registrations now account for 13.3% of the market, with over 18,000 new EV registrations in April.

Paul Kirby, Head of LCV and EV Strategy at Vanarama, said: “More and more consumers want to keep up with the pace of change in vehicle technology as the UK heads towards the Government’s Net Zero target. Leasing is the most cost-effective way to do that. That’s why we’re investing heavily in EVs across both our personal and commercial leasing propositions. It also means we have to practice what we preach and so our partnership with Elmtronics ensures our staff and our fleet are always fully charged!”

The project involved removing legacy chargers from their head office, replacing them with six new dual chargers, and installing two dual chargers at their fleet services centre. Providing reliable charging infrastructure within the workplace is also a contributing factor towards employees switching to plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles.

Natasha Fry, Associate Consultant at Elmtronics who led the project, said: “I am thrilled that we are working with such a forward-thinking leasing company. Throughout the project, I have seen the passion, drive, determination and sheer dedication that they are showing to support their staff and customers on this electrification journey. I am really excited to see what the future might bring as more customers choose to lease electric vehicles.”

Each charging unit is connected to Elmtronics’ very own charging network Hubsta, allowing Vanarama to control and monitor their chargers and enabling employees to use them with their assigned RFID cards . The network also allows EV drivers to access up to 55,000 stations worldwide across the Hubsta network as well as through the networks’ roaming partners. To ensure minimal downtime, Vanarama has taken out a comprehensive service and maintenance package from Elmtronics which covers unlimited call-outs and annual safety tests.
