Wrexham Council has partnered with Costelloes EV Group to cover the operation, maintenance and installation of electric vehicle charge points on council-owned land.

The long-term deal will allow it to expand its network of chargers across the county “at a lower cost” and “make improvements” to its service, it said.

Costelloes, based in Ellesmere Port, are industry specialists who provide a sky-to-pavement solution with solar, battery storage, and EV charging.

The agreement with Wrexham will see an expansion of council charge points, a quicker roll-out, improved customer service, and an effective and professional service.

The agreement comes as part of Wrexham’s work to decarbonise transport across the county borough, using support from funding opportunities where available.

Over the next year, the council is looking to deliver more than 45 smaller charging units and two mobility hubs, having secured a contribution of £758,654 funding from Welsh Government’s Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle Transformation Fund 24/25.

Cllr David A Bithell, Deputy Leader and Climate Champion, said:

“We’re delighted to sign the innovative partnership with Costelloes EV Group, to help us expand and improve upon our network of EVCPs. We want to support our residents to move towards using electric vehicles by providing them with more high quality, well maintained charge points across Wrexham, and securing an agreement with an industry specialist will help us to deliver that.”

David Costelloe, Managing Director of Costelloes EV Group, said:

“With over 30 years of experience in the electrical industry, our team is dedicated to staying at the forefront of new developments and technologies. We take pride in providing exceptional service and support to our customers, ensuring that their needs are met with the highest level of professionalism and expertise.”
