With over 16 years’ experience in local government transport planning, Katie Pudney is the Electric Vehicle and Charging Lead at Essex County Council, where she plays a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the county’s transition to electric mobility. Katie has led the coordination of Essex’s successful ORCS and LEVI funding bids, securing more than £8.5 million in public capital funding to accelerate the rollout of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Through this investment, Katie is responsible for leading the delivery of over 7,000 public chargepoints by 2031, ensuring infrastructure is delivered at scale, in the right locations, and in a way that supports residents, businesses, and fleets across urban, rural, and suburban Essex. Her work sits at the intersection of transport, energy, and place, with a strong focus on enabling an inclusive and sustainable transition to zeroemission vehicles.

Katie brings extensive partnership and stakeholder engagement experience, working closely with Central Government, including the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), as well as other local authorities, Charge Point Operators, Distribution Network Operators, the Energy Saving Trust, and local communities. She is particularly focused on exploring a wide range of charging solutions and technologies to meet the needs of different vehicle types and environments, ensuring the benefits of electrification are accessible across all sectors.
