UK electric vehicle (EV) charging network InstaVolt has extended its partnership to offer payment choice through Zapmap across its public network.
More than one million Zapmap users can pay for charging quickly and easily at over 2,500 rapid and ultra-rapid InstaVolt chargers across almost 900 locations, using the Zapmap app or charging card.
InstaVolt chargers deliver ultra-rapid charging at food and retail spaces, such as McDonald’s, Costa Coffee and Booths, and along the strategic road network, including motorway service areas. The company recently calculated EV drivers are never more than 30 miles from one of its chargers.
Its charging network joins over 80,000 other chargers across more than 50 networks already accepting payment through Zapmap, spanning on-street, destination and en-route charge points, “with more being integrated all the time”, the company added.
InstaVolt has recently deployed new grid-independent resilience with battery storage technology at its sites, including the Winchester superhub, which provides charging for 44 vehicles, and at Welcome Break Corley (M6), the UK’s first motorway services to host on-site battery storage directly connected to its chargers, it claims.
Zapmap’s solution was launched to allow for interoperability of payment on all the key charge point networks across the UK, allowing different payment methods across various charge point operators.
