Transport + Energy is kicking off its new masterclass webinar series with an event supported by charge point operator Believ.

The new series will focus on deep-dives into specific topics that are highly relevant to the transport and energy sectors. It will include actionable takeaways that professionals can use in their roles.

This first masterclass, exclusive to local authorities, will focus on the issue of charge point locations and the key decisions about where to place charge points in the implementation of the technology, and the drive to decarbonisation of transport.

It will feature Amy Rushton, Senior Project Manager, Suffolk County Council; Matt Croucher, Chief Commercial Officer, Believ; and Melanie Shufflebotham, Co-founder & COO, Zapmap.

The webinar will directly address the challenges and opportunities that come with site selection for charge points across local areas and communities, whether rural shires or city boroughs.

Following the roll-out of Local EV Infrastructure (LEVI) funding, local authorities now have to consider the practicalities of site selection for their charge points, ensuring that utilisation is efficient, beneficial to the community, and future proofed.

The masterclass will explore how local authorities are making crucial decisions on where to place chargers and explore how their approaches ensured that the right sites were chosen for their communities. Specifically, it will look at Suffolk’s roll-out of LEVI funding with Believ and the lessons learnt to-date.

The panel will examine the evolving relationship between CPOs, the council and officers, and the wider community in developing and delivering charge points, with real-world examples of utilisation.

Guy Bartlett, Believ CEO, said:

“We’re excited to be a part of Transport + Energy’s webinar series, alongside Suffolk County Council and Zapmap, to explore best practice principles for charge point installation. It’s a great opportunity to discuss how local authorities can successfully navigate an ever-evolving charging landscape.

“All local authorities are different and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. That’s why it’s so important for CPOs to work collaboratively with councils to develop the right approach that truly fits local needs. This webinar will provide practical guidance and real-world insight, drawing on our successful partnership with Suffolk County Council to illustrate what effective collaboration can achieve.”

Alec Peachey, Founder and Editorial Director of Transport + Energy, said:

“I’m delighted to launch this latest product in Transport + Energy’s range of insight content for the sectors.

“Masterclasses will provide critical information, educating professionals across the two sectors. It will offer the opportunity to learn and be empowered with actionable insights.

“I’m excited to be working with Believ on this first topic for the range of masterclasses – it is a crucial part of the EV charging infrastructure jigsaw, and promises to be an excellent, informative event.”
