Ubitricity, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shell, has announced the takeover of FM Conway’s SureCharge EV Charging network.

This move will add more than 2,400 charge points to the ubitricity Shell Recharge network across London.

These charge points have been installed into lampposts across residential streets, and charge at a speed of 4.8kW.

The transition began on 2 February 2026, with all charge points expected to be rebranded to Shell Recharge within two months.

Ubitricity is one of the largest charging operator in the UK, with this takeover bringing the full network total to over 14,000 charge points across 30 UK local authorities.

This latest network expansion follows a year of growth, including deployments of 2000 charge points in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, more than 500 in Waltham Forest, and 560 charge points across Birmingham.

Alexander Reinhardt, CEO of ubitricity, said:

“This growth to the Shell Recharge network supports our ambition to expand reliable and affordable public charging across the UK. This acquisition helps accelerate progress towards more sustainable mobility for drivers and communities.”

Rebecca Hatch, FM Conway Digital Urban Solutions Director, said:

“We are very excited to be working with Ubitricity to continue on the success of the previous 5 years since SureCharge was introduced to our London Borough clients.”
