Andy has worked in the energy industry for over 30 years with extensive experience of both distribution and transmission sectors. As Whole System Manager, Andy is currently responsible for the long strategic planning of SSEN’s networks. This includes production of their SSEN’s Distribution Future Energy Scenarios (DFES) which considers future local energy scenarios out to 2050 as well as co-ordination with local authorities in the development of the Local Area Energy Plans (LAEPs). Andrew is also responsible for strategic planning of SSEN’s low voltage networks ensuring they are capable of meeting the demands of low carbon technologies including EVs. Prior to joining SSEN in 2023, Andy worked at the Electricity System Operator (ESO) most recently leading their input to the DSO transition. Prior to that Andy has extensive technical and commercial leadership experience. In his earlier career Andy worked in a variety of technical roles including time as a field engineer and a control room operative. Andy is married with two children. In his limited spare time Andy enjoys time running, practicing yoga and birdwatching.
