Kez is a transport professional with 10 years’ experience spanning the aerospace and automotive industries, local government, and innovation. He now works at the Energy Systems Catapult within their Transport Practice which carries out techno-economic modelling and provides transport subject area expertise for a range of energy projects across the organisation.

His work has focused on transport innovation and electrification for the last 4 years, including leading the development of a £15m+ grant-funded ULEV strategy for four local authorities representing a population of over 1 million people, delivering the region’s first on-street residential chargepoints. Kez is passionate about creating an equitable transition and ensuring none are left behind in the electrification journey, but also in ensuring we don’t get EV tunnel-vision and forget the importance of modal shift. This interest has led to involvement in projects across shared and public transport, including the first Mobility Hub in the UK, in Halesowen.

Kez is currently working on SENSE, an ESRC and UKRI funded project creating a data platform to make smart energy systems data more easily available to researchers carrying out social and economic research. Kez is leading on a use case covering the equity of the transition to electric vehicles, with a particular focus on current and potential disparities between rural and urban residents’ access to public EV charging. Kez was also involved in eFreight, which focuses on the challenge of decarbonising of the UK’s road freight sector.
