Ultra-rapid EV charging network InstaVolt has completed the first installation in a planned nationwide upgrade programme.

The work will see the company replace two 50kW chargers with a single 120kW ultra-rapid unit at Chineham Business Park in Basingstoke.

The upgraded charger delivers significantly faster charging speeds in a wider bay, designed to be more accessible. In addition, the faster charging speeds aim to minimise wait times, InstaVolt said.

It marks the beginning of the company’s multi-million-pound investment designed to enhance the speed, reliability and convenience of EV charging across the country.

Further upgraded sites will be announced over the coming weeks, it said. All upgraded chargers will deliver ultra-rapid speeds and offer contactless payment.

As with every charger on the network, the energy supplied is 100% renewable, and each site aims to meet InstaVolt’s standards for reliability – which currently exceeds 99% uptime.

Delvin Lane, CEO at InstaVolt, said:

“Our network has always been built on listening to drivers and delivering what they need.

“This nationwide programme is about raising the bar for accessibility and convenience, ensuring every EV driver, from commuters to families, has the confidence to charge quickly, easily, and reliably at InstaVolt.”
