Norwegian EV charging firm Zaptec has launched its Zaptec Go 2 product into the UK marketplace.

The Zaptec Go 2 is a 3-phase, 22kW AC charger that’s V2G-ready, OCPP-compliant and MID-meter certified, which the company claiming it is the UK’s first such charger built for both domestic and commercial use.

The Zaptec Go 2 aims to “open the door to a more flexible energy system”, the company said. With Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capability supporting ISO 15118, it provides communication that enables plug-and-charge and bi-directional energy communication between EV and grid.

As a result, it enables energy sharing, cost savings, and grid-balancing as standards are finalised, and car manufacturers activate V2G features.

The 3-phase, 22kW charger delivers fast and efficient charging while supporting dynamic load balancing to avoid costly grid upgrades.

It is also bi-directional MID-certified with in-built screen, which helps businesses prepare for upcoming UK legislation requiring certified energy metering in all new chargers used for accurate billing and salary sacrifice schemes.

The technology inside the Zaptec Go 2 includes improved subscription-free 4G connectivity, with full OCPP 1.6J support offering easy integration with platforms and charge point operators. Solar-ready features are delivered with apps such as ev.energy, giving users control over how and when they charge.

The Zaptec Go 2 also receives over-the-air updates, so features can evolve with the market and deliver more value with future advancements.

As the UK scales up its EV infrastructure and energy goals, the Zaptec Go 2 is “ideally suited to support the shift”, the company said, and it can be used for charging on driveways, electrifying fleet domestic charging, or supporting a wider rollout by local councils or residential developers.

The Zaptec Go 2 is now available to order immediately in the UK.

Michael Braybrook, Managing Director UK, Zaptec, said:

“With Zaptec Go 2, we’re launching more than just a charger. We’re giving people confidence in their EV future. It’s a product designed to meet the needs of drivers today, and tomorrow.

“It helps homeowners, businesses and public sector partners invest in infrastructure that’s ready to evolve and stay ahead of the curve.”
