A new 100kw EVBox charging station, the first charging point of its kind and size in North Wales, has been installed after planning was agreed at the 2019 Chirk Visioning Event regarding the growing demand for such facilities in the region.

The Chirk Visioning Event was held to invite local councillors and businesses to suggest ideas for promoting business and tourism in the area, with the fast-charging 100kw EVBox station suggested to accommodate the rise in popularity of electric vehicles in the area and to meet local and government targets for phasing out petrol and diesel vehicles.

Speaking to the Oswestry and Border Counties Advertizer, Councillor Jackie Allen said: “This will be a huge benefit for drivers of electric vehicles, as this Ultra Rapid Charger can deliver a charge of up to 80% in around 20 to 30 minutes. Our thanks go to Emma Williams, senior carbon reduction officer and Wrexham County Borough Council for the installation of this ultra-rapid charging point”.
