Polestar has introduced battery state of health certificates for its pre-owned Polestar 2 models, certifying the useable battery as a percentage.

The certificate aims to give customers peace of mind that their battery is in peak health, and reassurance that many more miles of motoring is possible.

The firm also said that pre-owned Polestar 2, Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 remain up-to-date for potential customers through over-the-air (OTA) updates, allowing the models to keep improving over time.

Since its launch in 2020, Polestar 2 has received over 20 OTA updates, including efficiency gains extending the car’s range through battery management, new functionality with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as apps including Waze and YouTube.

Further enhancing access to pre-owned cars, in May the company will open its first pre-owned space in Birmingham, focusing on fully-checked and prepped pre-owned Polestars.

Matt Galvin, Managing Director, Polestar UK said:

“As more pre-owned Polestars start to come on the market, it offers a lower price entry-point to join the Polestar family and experience our performance EVs with all the software features of our new cars.

“And where customers may have been apprehensive about a five-year-old Polestar 2 and its battery condition, once again Polestar is giving car buyers transparency and providing peace of mind in the same way we do with our climate impact.”
