EV charging masterclass to take place at BVRLA conference

The race to decarbonise road transport will be won or lost at the local level. The Masterclass session at the BVRLA’s upcoming Fleets in Charge Conference will take a close look at how Coventry City Council are decarbonising the city, what steps they are taking to accommodate fleet users and how they are engaging to understand their needs.

The Masterclass session will look to answer:

  • What role can the fleet sector bring in decarbonising the UK’s towns and cities and what opportunities are there for the fleet sector?
  • What does an effective engagement strategy look like from a local authority perspective and how can fleets work with local authorities to ensure charging is in the right place at the right time for the right user?
  • How do rental/leasing companies need to adapt and innovate to win public sector business?

Delegates will hear from one of the council’s leading the way when it comes to transport decarbonisation. Shamala Evans-Gadgil from Coventry City Council will talk about how Coventry is a true trailblazer, outlining the steps they are taking to accommodate fleet users and how they are engaging to understand their needs.

Shamala will provide tangible examples of how Coventry is working with fleets, offering guidance on how BVRLA members and their partners can more effectively collaborate with local authorities as they rollout charging infrastructure.

Joining Shamala on stage will be Kim Harrison from Crown Commercial Services (CCS). Kim will talk about how CCS is supporting the Government to meet its fleet commitment, where it is on the transition, and what it is looking for from rental and leasing companies to support the transition of the Government’s fleet.

The one-day Conference will take place at the QEII conference centre in London on Wednesday 20 September.

Official partners for Fleets in Charge in 2023 are The AA, Arval UK, Auto Trader, Dynamon, Fleet Assist and Mina. Transport + Energy is the official media partner.

Physical tickets are available to buy online now, with BVRLA members benefiting from a discounted rate.
