Total wins tender for Paris EV charging network
The concession tender for modernising and extending the City of Paris’ electric vehicle charge points network has been won by Total.
The deal will see the firm install and manage the on-street public network for 10 years and cover the supply, construction, technical and commercial operations of the network.
The new network, which combines the Belib’ network and the former Autolib’ network, will ultimately lead to 2,300 EV charge points – an increase of 56% compared to the number currently in service.
Total will modernise equipment with the installation of fast-charging hubs, located at underground parking lots. It will also offer energy tariffs adapted to the needs of EV drivers and integrate services for customers.
Within the proposal was Total’s development of solar farms across France to cover the energy needs of the charging network, providing 100% renewable electricity to the vehicles. the
Speaking about the move, Alexis Vovk, president of marketing and services at Total, said it followed other deals in London, Brussels and Amsterdam.
He said: “This partnership with the City of Paris enables us to accelerate our transformation toward a broad energy company.
“This Belib’ offer will complement the electric mobility services that Total already provides to its customers, both individuals and professionals: at work, at home, in public spaces, in commercial areas or in our service stations.”
