Businesses with electric fleets can now get cheaper public electric vehicle (EV) charging with drivers accessing discounted rates at Octopus’ network of chargers.

The new Octopus FleetBoost scheme is designed to reduce the costs of running EVs while making it easier for drivers to find a charger when on the road.

Available through the Octopus Fleet platform, businesses who sign up to FleetBoost could cut their charging bills by up to 30%, with savings of up to £730 per vehicle each year.

The scheme also aims to tackle finding a suitable charger when on the road, with analysis of UK areas covered by FleetBoost revealing 99% are within 14 miles of an eligible charger – while 95% are within 9 miles.

Three major charge point operators (CPOs) – MFG EV Power, IONITY and Be.EV – have already joined FleetBoost.

Octopus Fleet combines technology, payments and charging solutions in one place, including automated home charging reimbursement, public charging and a Visa-backed Fleet Card for mixed fleets.

It comes as Octopus Electroverse also provides drivers access to more than 1.5 million public charge points worldwide from over 1,600 brands across 40 countries, through a single app and card.

Matt Davies, Founder of Octopus Fleet, said:

“We know that switching a fleet to electric is about much more than putting an EV on the road – businesses need charging to be affordable, reliable and easy for drivers to use, and we’re tackling this all in one go.

“By bringing together some of the UK’s biggest charging brands, we can help accelerate the transition to commercial EVs and slash the cost of public charging for businesses.”

Martin Symes, EV Director, MFG EV Power said:

“Making public charging genuinely affordable is the single biggest unlock for fleet electrification, and FleetBoost does exactly that, real savings at thousands of MFG EV Power bays nationwide. MFG is proud to be a founding partner, providing cheaper, faster, more reliable charging is how we accelerate the UK’s switch to electric.”

Andreas Atkins, Country Manager UK & Ireland at IONITY:

“For businesses running electric fleets, convenient and reliable public charging is essential to keeping drivers moving. We’re pleased to support the Octopus FleetBoost scheme, giving more fleet drivers access to IONITY’s high-power charging network and helping them spend less time charging and more time on the road.”

Asif Ghafoor, CEO of Be.EV, said:

“For too long, public charging has felt like the wild west for fleets, with little control over the experience drivers get. By joining FleetBoost alongside other trusted networks, we can give businesses the confidence to transition knowing their drivers have reliable, good-value public charging across the country – at a cost that can compete with, or even beat, petrol and diesel.”
