Electric vehicle (EV) charging company Qwello is partnering with Transport + Energy on a masterclass webinar regarding making a robust case for procuring EV charging infrastructure.
This latest in our series of masterclasses will look at a significant consideration for local authorities around the implementation of EV charging infrastructure: the vital issue of procurement.
Due to the variety of decision-making responsibilities across procurement for different local authorities, this is a particularly pertinent issue to consider carefully, especially for those new, or in an embryonic stage, around the implementation of EV charging.
Making a robust case and ensuring success at any early stage in planning the programme can drive down the time of implementation from years to months – a critical element during the acceleration of electric vehicle growth nationally and locally.
This webinar, exclusively for local authorities, will consider exactly how success is achieved, including the various elements of procurement, including what a good tender looks like, the different funding routes and LEVI, initial assessment and planning, working with the CPO, feasibility studies, and understanding the procurement frameworks for suppliers.
It will feature specific, detailed local authority case studies, delivered by officers, highlighting and explaining the different challenges, and provide expert guidance and key takeaways for those going through the process.
The masterclass will look at the root and branch issues around procurement, including:
- The initial tender, contract and stakeholder meetings for implementation
- Responsibilities across the local authority and CPO, including how to involve all stakeholders early in the process.
- Working with the DNO and electricity planning
- Overall issues on EV charging infrastructure, such as site selection, citizen engagement and communication
Speakers include:
- James Evison, Content Manager, Transport + Energy (chair)
- Vicky Morgan, Bid Manager, Qwello
- Stephen Morris, Project Lead for EV Infrastructure, Cheshire East Council
- Katie Pudney, Electric Vehicle and Charging Strategy Lead, Essex County Council
- Martin Schaeferbarthold, Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategist, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council.
This promises to be a must-attend event both for those at the very start of their projects and also those who are further down the road, and who are looking for expert guidance on successful roll-outs.
