EDF customers can now benefit from enhanced electric vehicle (EV) tariffs and some of the cheapest off-peak charging rates on the market, it has said.
The firm has announced rates from 6.49p/kWh every night, with EV tariffs now coming with an additional two hours added to the off-peak charging times, from 11pm – 6am every night for new and existing customers.
The deal means drivers can typically add up to 200 miles of range overnight for £7. Customers can also save more by opting into EDF’s Smart Charging bolt-on to allow EDF to automatically charge their EV’s when electricity is at its greenest.
EDF has seen demand for their EV tariffs increase by 32% year on year as more customers make the switch to electric.
For an average motorist, charging with GoElectric and using the Smart Charging bolt-on will save drivers £1,181 a year compared to petrol. If petrol prices increased a further 19p per litre in the next month, in line with current trends, households would save even more at £1,345 a year.
Joe Souto, Director of Retail at EDF, said:
“We are pleased to offer the cheapest overnight EV charging rates on the market, and with extended off-peak hours across all our EV tariffs, we’re making it simpler and more affordable to power our customers’ car and home every night.
“By choosing an EDF EV tariff and flexing their energy use, households can help reduce the strain on the grid by using electricity when it’s less in demand. Transitioning away from fuels they can’t control, drivers can move towards cleaner, flexible electricity that fits modern life and supports Britain’s shift to a more electric, sustainable future.”
