Amplify EV has been awarded a new operations and maintenance contract by Edinburgh City Council.

The deal marks the start of a strategic partnership to support the city’s transition away from the Charge Place Scotland (CPS) network and strengthen the long-term resilience of its public EV charging infrastructure.

Under the agreement, Amplify EV will provide end-to-end maintenance services across Edinburgh’s public charging estate, comprising 185 charge points from multiple manufacturers.

The partnership brings together Edinburgh City Council’s strategic vision for sustainable transport with Amplify EV’s operational expertise in managing complex, multi-vendor EV charging networks.

The award represents a demonstrable, real-world pathway for public and private charge point operators seeking to migrate from Charge Place Scotland. As CPS funding and support comes to an end, Amplify EV is working closely with Charge Point Operators (CPO’s) across Scotland that require a value and quality driven service model, which supports diverse product portfolios with technical excellence and scalable delivery.

Amplify EV has assumed responsibility for fault management, on-site field services, stockholding, and electrical infrastructure expertise, supported by the recruitment of a locally based EV technicians to strengthen regional resilience and response times.

This locally delivered model is designed to protect service continuity for drivers while enabling faster interventions and higher uptime across the network

The company’s wrap-around support extends beyond charge point operations. As a product-agnostic operator, Amplify EV supports most major EV hardware manufacturers, allowing asset owners to manage both existing and future infrastructure without being locked into a single vendor or technology stack.

Amplify EV is also part of an Independent Connection Provider (ICP) with national coverage, enabling in-house delivery of electrical and grid engineering services, including power upgrades, compliance, and future-proofed network expansion alongside charger operations.

Scott Johnstone, Technical Operations Director at Amplify EV, said:

“At Amplify EV, our focus is on making sure public charging works reliably for the people who depend on it every day. Supporting Edinburgh’s transition from Charge Place Scotland is about careful planning, close collaboration with the Council and operators, and delivering practical outcomes on the ground.

“We are proud to contribute our technical experience to help ensure a smooth migration, while laying the foundations for a stronger, more resilient charging network that can grow alongside demand.”
