We caught up with Chris Demetriou, Assistant Director of Corporate Fleet, Transport and Accessible Community Transport at the London Borough of Islington at our inaugural event last summer.

In this video, Chris outlines some of the decarbonisation challenges faced in his borough – inequalities, resilience and vehicle charging.

Electrifying fleets involves significant upfront costs, which although works to residents’ benefit, is hard to communicate to the community at large. Chris outlines the improved cost of ownership of EVs, which last much longer than ICE vehicles as well as the fuel savings. Decarbonisation is ultimately about health and cleaner air which are improving in Islington and across the rest of London.

“Absolutely fantastic event, there are so many great speakers. I’ve used it as an opportunity to learn and network”.

The next Fleet Electrification Forum takes place on 8 July at Warwick Conferences: register your interest here.
