Extra MSA and GRIDSERVE have installed an Electric Vehicle (EV) Super Hub at its Beaconsfield location.

Twelve additional high-power charging bays have been installed at Beaconsfield Services (M40 J2), bringing the total to twenty-one chargers.

The chargers will be capable of supplying 400kW, enabling drivers with the latest car models to add over 100 miles of range in less than 10 minutes.

This will be the first site on Extra’s network to welcome GRIDSERVE’s Super Hub, with an additional six Super Hubs installed at other nationwide locations.

Each Super Hub will introduce twelve chargers at Baldock, Cambridge, Cobham, and Peterborough throughout December and January.

Since 2021, GRIDSERVE and Extra have worked in partnership, with GRIDSERVE providing Medium Power EV charging across Extra’s network since it acquired the Electric Highway in 2021.

Extra MSA currently operates eight MSAs across England at Baldock (A1(M) J10); Beaconsfield (M40 J2); Blackburn with Darwen (M65 J4); Cambridge (A14(M11) J24); Cobham (M25 J9/10); Cullompton (M5 J28); Leeds Skelton Lake (M1 J45); and Peterborough (A1(M) J17).

Tom Dobson, CEO at Extra MSA Group, said:

“Our ambition has always been to go the ‘Extra mile’ for our customers, whether that’s through great food, drink and retail, high-quality design and amenity, or world-class EV charging.

“Partnering with GRIDSERVE, one of the most trusted names in the sector, ensures we can meet the rapidly growing demand for convenient, high-speed charging at our Beaconsfield site. We’re looking forward to continuing our work with GRIDSERVE across nationwide locations and future-proofing our estate to meet evolving customer needs.”

Daniel Kunkel, CEO of GRIDSERVE, said:

“We’re incredibly proud to expand our partnership with Extra at Beaconsfield services. Both of our organisations share the same vision – putting customers and the planet at the heart of everything we do.

“Increasing the number of chargers to twenty-one clearly shows our shared commitment to high-quality amenities and sustainability. Together, we’re building a network that gives EV drivers the confidence to be able to charge quickly, easily and reliably, wherever they travel.”
