UK investor-operator of public EV charging infrastructure Zest is working with leisure and retail destination Kennedy Centre to deliver new EV charging facilities in West Belfast.

EV charging is now live at the Kennedy Centre, with six 120 kW ultra-rapid charging bays available to drivers. The new facilities offer customers the ability of topping up their vehicles while shopping, dining, or enjoying leisure activities.

Under the partnership, Zest funds, deploys, and operates the charging infrastructure. The Kennedy Centre deployment forms part of Zest’s expanding retail portfolio across the UK, reinforcing its “commitment to making EV charging widely accessible in the places people live, work and travel”, it said.

It follows deployments at leading UK retail destinations including Metrocentre in Gateshead, Merry Hill in the West Midlands and Frenchgate in Doncaster, as well as at Time Square in Warrington and Chantry Place in Norwich.

John Jones, Centre Manager at the Kennedy Centre, said:

“We’re thrilled to bring fast, reliable EV charging to our visitors. Sustainability is a growing priority for the Kennedy Centre, and this partnership with Zest helps us make a meaningful contribution to cleaner transport across Belfast.

“We know many of our customers are switching to electric vehicles, and these new charging bays make that journey easier and more convenient.”

Robin Heap, CEO of Zestsaid:

“As a popular, forward-thinking destination at the heart of its community, the Kennedy Centre plays a vital role in making the switch to electric easier for drivers.

“By deploying reliable ultra-rapid charging at the places people already visit to shop, eat and spend time, Zest is making charging convenient and accessible, helping accelerate EV adoption and deliver cleaner air for local communities.”
