The Hydrogen Energy Association (HEA) has launched a new survey inviting input from members and businesses operating across the UK’s hydrogen industry.

The State of the Hydrogen Nation survey will deliver a comprehensive health check of the hydrogen industry in the UK today, exploring key issues such as business confidence, skills, investment, and market barriers.

Findings from the survey will inform the HEA’s inaugural State of the Hydrogen Nation report, to be published in early 2026.

The report will provide an insightful overview of business sentiment across the hydrogen value chain and provide Government and policy makers, industry and financial stakeholders with key insights into the health of the UK’s hydrogen industry.

It will also include recommendations on the steps Government can take to maximise the jobs, investment and decarbonisation opportunities of hydrogen.

The ambition is for The State of the Hydrogen Nation report to become an annual fixture within the UK hydrogen industry, serving as an authoritative, data-driven barometer on the state of the industry.

Dr Emma Guthrie, CEO of the Hydrogen Energy Association, said:

“Hydrogen is at a pivotal point in the UK’s energy transition.

“By hearing directly from businesses at the forefront of production, storage, distribution, end-use, and technology innovation, we can provide an evidenced-based picture of the industry’s health, and what is needed to unlock its full potential.”
