Smart EV charging firm Easee has teamed up with sustainable energy and charging network Gridserve as part of its ‘Summer of Charging Freedom’ promotion.
The move, which aims to offer EV drivers a “smoother road trip experience”, brings together Easee’s home charging offering alongside Gridserve’s public charging service, which offers 1,500 charging bays at more than 200 locations.
Through the partnership, the firms aim to “go the extra mile in giving EV drivers even more confidence to travel further on their summer staycations”.
The launch of the partnership comes as Easee reveals UK EV drivers’ increasing preference for taking longer electric journeys on the road, as they travel for their holidays on home soil.
New data shows that on average, staycation journeys for the UK EV drivers surveyed are 126.94 miles longer this year than the home-holiday trips they have taken in the last three years.
Simultaneously, almost a third (32%) of respondents reported that they are travelling between 91 and 300 miles further on their staycation in 2025, compared to the same time period.
Easee’s consumer survey also reveals the growth in confidence of UK EV drivers in taking longer journeys. 62% of those surveyed declared more confidence in a journey which is more than 300 miles than five years ago.
Sam Levy, Regional Sales Director – UK & Ireland at Easee, said:
“With UK EV drivers now travelling an average of nearly 127 miles further for their staycations than in the last three years, this partnership brings together the best of home and public EV charging – making summer road trips simpler and more affordable.
“Whether you’re heading to Cornwall, the Lake District, or the Scottish Highlands, our goal is to make charging seamless and save you a little extra for the fun stuff.”
Daniel Kunkel, GRIDSERVE CEO, at GRIDSERVE added:
“Making low-carbon travel more accessible and enjoyable this summer is the perfect way to celebrate the growing confidence UK EV drivers are showing in doing longer electric journeys.
“With 1,500 charging bays at over 200 locations across the UK, the GRIDSERVE Electric Highway is the backbone of British EV road trips and ensures drivers can enjoy their road trips with complete peace of mind wherever their journey takes them.”
